          How We Work

The first step is an initial meeting or phone call, the purpose of which is to see what I can do.  Sometimes I can't do anything and will tell you that up front.  But if I can, I'll give you a basic idea for the overall plan along with an idea for the cost.  For most of my work, I almost always charge a flat fee for two reasons.  First, it prevents sticker shock -- no one wants to open a bill with smelling salts in hand.  Second, it keeps you from worrying about being "nickled and dimed to death" and instead let's you focus on getting the plan right.

Once we've signed a retainer, I get to work drafting the plan.  Depending on the degree of complexity, this can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.  Throughout the process, I will keep you apprised of the situation, sending you draft documents so you can provide input regarding the terms and conditions you want to see.  Also remember, sometimes an involved asset protection plan can take a long time to implement in order to remain compliant with various aspects of fraudulent transfer law.

Once the plan is in place, I also help to keep it up to date to make sure it's compliant with the law on an ongoing basis.  After all, a plan is no help if it doesn't protect the assets of the client on an ongoing basis
          .

Those are the basic steps.  Please call if you have any questions.
